YOUTH NEWSLETTER – February 28, 2018

Hello There!

This weekend I will be out of town, but we have a lot of exciting things coming up. Please read this newsletter carefully, so you won’t miss out.

Solid Rock Assembly is hosting a Dodgeball Night for 6th-12th grades in the ARC Center on Fri., Mar. 2 from 7-9 PM. I will not be there, but John Nau from Solid Rock said that our students and parents are welcome to come and join the fun. He has invited other churches to play as well. There won’t be any specific teams, so just show up and be ready to play!

The Sub Sandwich Sale will officially begin this Sunday, and I’ve placed order form packets in your church mailboxes. Don’t be shy about asking people to buy our delicious subs. My challenge is that every family sells to 10 different people. If we do that I will have ice cream sundaes in addition to pizza the night that we have our sub sandwich factory!

The Rosebud Mission Trip individual deposits of $75 are due this Sunday. Please place your checks made out to RCYF in the marked envelope on my desk. I am praying that all of our high schoolers will be able to join us this year for this awesome service, spiritual, and cultural experience!

YOUTH NEWSLETTER – February 20, 2018

Hello There!

We have our BIG fundraiser tomorrow with our Love Auction! I think it is going to be a good one (as always)! Lots of high quality items this year! I’m always amazed at how generous and talented our congregation is! Let me know if you have any last minute donations. We’d love to have every youth group family donate something. Items need to be at church by 2 PM on Wednesday (baked goods by 5 PM).

Come at 5 PM to set up if possible. Matt Gaudian and David Van Der Linden will be in the ARC Center and kitchen directing students and parents with getting ready for the auction. I will be teaching a KFC class and leading music until 5:30 PM. Help serve pizza, popcorn, and cookies at 5:30 PM, and then help display items during the auction which starts at 6 PM. We will need to tear down the tables and chairs afterward, so please plan to stick around to help with the clean up process too. Looking forward to another great event led by God!

Love in Christ,
Maggie 🙂

YOUTH NEWSLETTER – February 1, 2018

Hello There!

Hope everyone is having a happy Groundhog’s Day eve! 🙂 I have a few things I would like to plug in this newsletter. First of all, we are having a tubing trip at Great Bear in Sioux Falls on Sat., Feb. 10. The cost is $16 per person for tubing from 12-5 PM. We will carpool from church at 10:45 AM. Hoping for a great crowd! Friends and parents are encouraged to come too!

Another thing is that we have our Love Auction coming up on Feb. 21, and I want to encourage EVERY youth ministry family to sign up to donate an item, service, or experience for the auction. Talk about it as a family and be creative! Let me know if you have any questions.

And finally, Kari Voss-Drost came to The Hub a couple of weeks ago asking if our youth group could put together a gift basket for the Southwest Crisis Center auction fundraiser. The Hub voted and agreed to put together a Family Game Night basket. Items included would possibly be: a portable tote, unique games, hand crafted board game, and snacks. Students will sign up next week which items they plan to donate. Discuss with your students this week what you might be willing to provide for the basket. Thanks!

Love in Christ,
Maggie 🙂

YOUTH NEWSLETTER – January 19, 2018

Hello There!

Today I am starting a new adventure. Once or twice a month on a Friday (my typical day off at church) I’m going to be substitute teaching in the Worthington School District. Maybe even some of you will be in my class eventually. I hope this will be a way for me to connect with more people and students in the community! Plus with Lily going to kindergarten, I have more freedom on Fridays, so it is also an extra way to make some extra cash. 🙂 I am praying that God will bless me as I step into the unknown. It is intimidating not knowing what each day will be like, but I’m trusting that God will lead me as I go.

Love in Christ,

Maggie 🙂

YOUTH NEWSLETTER – December 11, 2017

Hello There!

Hope you are enjoying this Advent season!  It seems everywhere you look is a reminder of Christmas.  Let’s allow the decorations, the presents, and the music to remind us the greatest gift of all, our Savior Jesus!
This Sunday is the last day to give toward the LEGO project.  Instead of exchanging gifts as a youth group or giving gifts to me, we pool our money each year for a special mission.  This year we are raising funds for the LEGO project which was promoted by Ben Glenn, the chalk guy, at Rocky Mt. High.  This project helps purchase new LEGO sets for children in need.  His daughters helped him come up with this idea.  More info can be found here:  giveyourbricks.com
I’m excited to see the Christmas program come together!  Thanks for the energy and effort everyone has been putting in so far.  I’m praying for God to be glorified through this special service!
Love in Christ,
Maggie 🙂

YOUTH NEWSLETTER – Oct. 1, 2017

Hello There!

I hope everyone is staying dry on this dreary rainy day! I have really enjoyed kicking off the youth ministry year again this past month. We have had great discussions at The Vine, The Hub, and had a great time worshiping at The 507 youth rally last week!

I wanted to let you know that I’ve been praying about what to do with Rooted (the high school outreach on Wednesdays at 7:10 PM). I haven’t had much response about it, so instead of having a separate high school program on Wednesdays, we are going to open up The Hub to high school students too. I know it will be difficult for those who are in basketball with late practices to join us, but I feel that this will be a better option for those who are currently looking for a way to connect on Wednesday nights.

Many youth groups in our community are for high school and middle schoolers together. I will try to split the group up at times for smaller group discussions by grades to help foster the age appropriateness of some topics though. Please pray for God to bless us as we transition to a wider age range at The Hub. We are just trying to follow God’s lead.

So again, high schoolers are welcome to join us at The Hub starting this Wednesday!

Love in Christ,
Maggie 🙂
